The primary purpose of an Ed-Op program is to provide an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to be exposed to the many
types of post-secondary educational opportunities, and to explore in some depth specific interests. With this goal in mind, the following suggestions are offered:
- Inform the students and their parents of the date and time of your program. A couple of ways to publicize the event are through your school newspaper and public service radio and
television announcements.
- Counsel students on how to take advantage of the Ed-Op program. A list of questions to ask may be helpful to your students.
- Distribute the South Carolina College and University tabloid to students attending the Ed-Op program.
- Plan to have the institutional representatives attending your program arrange their tables in a systematic manner. Alphabetical order around the room with two rows down the middle
back-to-back is usually a good arrangement. Take note of the number of schools beginning with the same letter ("S") for example. Please plan your space accordingly for the
colleges that traditionally attract a large number of your students. Military Academies should be with two and four-year institutions, rather than with military services.
- Whenever possible, provide tables for the representatives.
- Whenever possible, arrange for a student group, such as the ROTC, to direct the representatives to parking and assist with carrying materials to and from the program.
- Request that audio/visual equipment not be used by anyone. It is important that students be able to talk with representatives with as little distraction as possible.
- Consider the needs of any disabled students attending your Ed-Op program.
